The Internet is already playing an important role in society. Its significance will continue to increase in the course of our children's lives.  Parents therefore need to know about its power and potential. With only a little care it is possible to reap all the benefits of the Internet, and to avoid the possible pitfalls.

The sheer scope of the Internet provides us with the richest source of information and entertainment that has ever been available right at our fingertips and in our own homes.

When you or your child logs on to the Internet, you are linking up to a vast network of computers, which extends all over the globe.  Children and adults can enjoy almost unlimited access to material, which is educational and entertaining, and to services which enable them to communicate with and learn about people from other countries and cultures.  No other avenue can provide what the Internet has to offer.

• Our children can find educational information.  Research data, documents, pictures, information from places like museums and wildlife centers, and the latest news can all help them with their studies and homework, and broaden their educational horizons.
